The perennial herb is member of Zingiberaceae family of zingiberales order. Zedoary is a kind of rhizome plant that grows in tropical and sub- tropical areas. It produces fragrant yellow colored flowers which have red and green bracts. Plant has underground large and tuberous branch like stems which are processed under steam distillation to produce essential oil.
